UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Science Program - Now Enrolling Fall 2023

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) is excited to present its Master of Biomedical Science (MBS) program. This one-year program is specifically designed to enhance the scientific knowledge of college graduates who aspire to pursue a professional degree in the biomedical sciences or healthcare.

Here are some key features of the UIWSOM MBS program:

  1. Comprehensive Curriculum: The program offers a rigorous curriculum that encompasses a broad range of subjects, including science, research, bioethics, and medical humanities. Students will gain a holistic understanding of these disciplines, preparing them for a well-rounded career in healthcare.
  2. Distinguished Clinical Faculty: UIWSOM is proud to have a faculty of respected clinical professionals who bring their extensive experience and expertise to the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to learn from these distinguished faculty members and benefit from their affiliation with our Doctor of Osteopathic medicine program.
  3. State-of-the-Art Facilities: UIWSOM is located at the vibrant Brooks community on the south side of San Antonio, Texas. This community is known for its historical significance as the former U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine. Students in the MBS program have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including those shared with learners in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program.
  4. Capstone Project: As a culmination of their studies, students will complete a final capstone project, allowing them to apply their knowledge and skills to a real-world problem or research question. This project provides valuable hands-on experience and helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

We believe that the UIWSOM MBS program can provide an excellent foundation for students' future careers in the biomedical sciences or healthcare. The interdisciplinary approach and the integration of research, bioethics, and medical humanities set this program apart from others, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to tackle the complex challenges of the field.

Should you require any additional materials or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the UIWSOM Office of Admissions via email or at (210) 283-6998. We would be more than happy to provide further information. Together, we can empower the next generation of healthcare professionals to make a positive impact in their chosen fields.
