Students are Invited! 2023 Florida Dental Convention, June 29-July 1 in Orlando


On behalf of the Florida Dental Association and the Committee on Conventions & Continuing Education, we wish to extend a special invitation for predental students to attend the 2023 Florida Dental Convention (FDC). FDC2023 will be held June 29-July 1 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. 

 

FDC2023 will offer many great opportunities for predental students to take advantage of including free registration, free courses, nightly social events, networking opportunities and access to the Exhibit Hall. Course highlights include technology advances, dental implants, chronic disease & oral health, aesthetic dentistry, clear aligners, salivary diagnostics and much more! Attached is the list of free courses as well as a flyer you can pass along to your students.

Medi-Gators Admissions Prep Event - Register NOW!

EXAM STRATEGIES, APPLICATION PREP, ADMISSIONS REPRESENTATIVE Q&As, AND MORE!

The Medi-Gators Virtual Shadowing Program presents the Pre-Health Admissions Preview event, which will take place on Saturday, April 8th, from 8:45am to 4:00pm at the HPNP Building. This event will be organized into a one-day conference with rotating workshops, each presenting various parts of the Pre-Health journey. This event will have sessions introducing attendees to the application process to the schools of their chosen path, components and timelines for the application, entrance exam strategies, and more. These workshops will provide presentations aiming to prepare pre-health students to become stronger and more competitive applicants for when their application cycle arrives. 

*This event is open to ANY interested UF/Santa Fe students and recent UF/Santa Fe graduates!!!*

Clinical Research Coordinator: Full-Time Job Opportunity 

Auzmer research is an independent clinical research company that leads investigational medication trials to help improve the lives of patients. As a clinical research coordinator you will have the opportunity to engage in direct patient contact and play a crucial role in the collection of data that will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of medications which have yet to reach the market. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, understanding and implementing assigned protocols, obtaining informed consent, tests and procedures, verifying accuracy and completion of documentation, and educating and providing information to patients and their families. You will receive training prior to starting. This job will also provide you the opportunity to learn the foundations of clinical research, business in medicine, as well as the role of a principal investigator. This is a full-time paid position with competitive benefits and minimum 1-year commitment. An ideal candidate would be someone with strong communication and leadership skills and motivation for learning. Announcing 2023 call for PATHS Applications. Please share!

We have once again launched the call for applications for the Program to Advance Training in Health and Science (PATHS), a 10-month virtual initiative that provides undergraduate students or recent graduates with a transformative learning experience to support their goal of applying for and earning an MD, MD/Ph.D., or Ph.D. in biomedical sciences. This is a great opportunity for students from underrepresented groups who are (1) two years out from applying to an MD, MD/Ph.D., or a Ph.D. program in the biomedical sciences (applying in 2024 for matriculation in 2025) and (2) who may lack similar programs or resources at their institutions. Feel free to share this email and flyer among interested students and organizations.

 

Students will be divided into three tracks according to the advanced degree (MD, MD/Ph.D., and Ph.D.) they are committed to pursuing. Each advanced degree track will have 20 students, for a total of 60 students in the entire cohort.

 

All students will have the following benefits and expectations: 

  • Trainings - Monthly online workshops and conversations about topics related to preparing for and applying to MD, MD/Ph.D., or Ph.D. degree programs. 
  • Mentoring Program - Be mentored by current MD, MD/Ph.D., or Ph.D. candidates at Yale School of Medicine (YSM).
  • Opportunities & Community of Support - Become part of a supportive network of peers and role models and receive regular notices about professional and career advancement opportunities at Yale and beyond.

Physical Therapy Shadowing Presentation this THURSDAY! 3/23

 


PHYSICAL THERAPY SHADOWING PRESENTATION!
Medi-Gators would like to invite you to join us for an in-person presentation from Physical Therapist, Melaney Gordon, PT, DPT. This presentation is open to all students interested in virtually "shadowing" a physical therapist - you do not need to be participating in Medi-Gators to attend. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Dr. Gordon's path to physical therapy, the patient population she works with, treatments and exercises for her patients, and students can participate in a Q&A at the end of the presentation.
Dr. Gordon's presentation will take place THIS THURSDAY, March 23rd from 5-6pm at the Communicore Building room C1-003.
