HealthPREP@Emory Summer Program


HealthPREP is an 8-week program facilitated by Emory School of Medicine & the Rollins Public Health at Emory University for undergraduate and graduate scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in health- related graduate and professional schools to enhance their skills for competitive admissions. Please email healthprep@emory.edu with any additional questions.

The application for HealthPREP will close on February 14, 2023.

 

Students eligible to apply:

  • Applicants with expressed interest in the health professions
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • Minimum science and cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale
  • At least one of the following backgrounds:
    • Economically disadvantaged (i.e. pell Grant eligible)
    • First-generation student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree
  • One of the following classifications:
    • MCAT track only: Matriculating students, with at least two years of undergraduate science OR pre-health coursework (including 2 semesters of organic chemistry)
    • GRE track only: Matriculating students, with at least two years of undergraduate coursework
    • Recent science or pre-health graduate
    • Matriculating unclassified graduate in science pre-health profession education

Chemistry Club Outreach Opportunity

Looking for ways to get involved? Interested in volunteering in local elementary schools? The UF Chemistry Club’s Science Outreach program is looking for student volunteers for the spring semester. The program pairs UF students with local elementary and middle school classrooms where volunteers perform science demonstrations and experiments. Volunteers do not have to be science majors. All materials are provided by the program and transportation costs are reimbursed. You can also choose to be in a group with your friends!

There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 7th, at 6:30 pm in NPB 1001 (room subject to change). There will also be an online make-up option if you cannot join us in person. You must attend one of these meetings in order to participate in the program. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Outreach Team (Lauren Andrews, Anton Roche, or Leah Kessler) through ufchemoutreach@gmail.com or #outreach on discord.

Dream Team's Rumble in the Jungle 5K

 

Mark your calendars! On February 11th, 2023, Dream Team will be hosting its 6th annual 5K at Flavet Field. Our theme this year is Rumble in the Jungle! Runner check-in will start at 8:00 AM and our race will officially begin at 9:15 AM. There will be food and beverages available for everyone before and after the race. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd overall female and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd overall male. The first 200 registered will receive a free Dream Team 5K t-shirt!

Our organization is dedicated to brightening the lives of the children in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU and Pediatric ICU of UF Health Shands Children's Hospital through in-hospital volunteering and out-of-hospital events. Global Medical Brigades Medical Volunteer Trip Abroad

GEMRU Application Now Open!


Are you pre-health or interested in emergency medicine and looking for experience with hands-on patient care? GEMRU, the Gator Emergency Medical Response Unit, is a volunteer EMS unit at the University of Florida. We respond to 911 calls on campus 
and provide medical standby at official university events and student organization activities. GEMRU responders have the unique opportunity to practice their medical skills in real emergency situations.

 

Applications for Spring 2023 GEMRU responders are now open and will close February 1st at 11:59pm. You must be a First Responder or EMT to apply. You can get certified through First Responder Gator (FRG) or UF’s EMR class EMS1055. Can’t apply this semester? Not a problem! We have applications open every semester!
