Harvard University's World Pre-Health Conference - Registration Open Now!

My name is Grace Vlaun,  and I am Director of Publicity for the World Pre-Health Conference at Harvard University. I cordially invite you all to apply to the 2024 World Pre-Health Conference, taking place April 12-14, 2024 in a hybrid format with attendees both in Boston and online.

WPC is an educational conference for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students with the mission of demystifying the pre-health experience and uniting students from across the world. Last year, WPC was attended by 2000+ students from 150+ schools across 100+ countries, and we would love for you to apply to this year’s conference.

WPC 2024 will incorporate medical research, arts & medicine, digital health, community service, health equity, and bioethics to further health accessibility and education via a variety of keynote speakers, workshops, career fairs, and mentorship/networking opportunities. We will be joined by Dr. Fredric Meyer, Dean of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine; Dr. Rebecca Brendel, Director of the Center for Bioethics; Dr. Thomas Quinn, founding Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health; Nadia Paredes, President-Elect of the American Art Therapy Association; and more.

(Mini-Course) Medical Practices & Healthcare Challenges in Latin America

The Shadow Abroad foundation is hosting a mini-course (3 online lessons), Medical Practices & Healthcare Challenges in Latin America. This is for premed/prehealth students (no cost) as part of their campaign to raise awareness of issues facing the Latin American medical systems, as well as the language gap in American healthcare. 

Students completing the course receive a certificate of completion (suitable for LinkedIn) and a $250 scholarship toward a Spanish & Shadowing summer program. UF MAPS (Multicultural Association of Pre-health Students)

Hello, my name is Aaron Claypool and I am the Vice President of UF's Mu Delta Chapter of  MAPS (Multicultural Association of Pre-health Students) in association with SNMA (Student National Medical Association). Our mission is to assist underrepresented students pursuing careers in the healthcare field in enrolling and successfully completing their studies in the various colleges of the health profession, serve the health needs of underrepresented communities, educate others on important health matters, and ensure cultural sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population. We offer a multitude of resources and opportunities to enrich the pre-health experience for students of various cultures and backgrounds. 

UF MAPS has general body meetings (GBMs) every other Monday at 6 PM and is open for all to attend. Our meetings provide pre-health students with different resources, opportunities, and information to aid students on their pre-health journey. We host guest health professional speakers, community outreach and service events, workshops for graduate school applications and preparation, as well as provide information for research and shadowing opportunities. The following is our GBM schedule for this semester

UF Dream Team's 7th Annual 5k

Hello! My name is Kimi Lessor​, and I am a member of Dream Team, a UF student organization and nonprofit. On Saturday, February 17 at 9am on Flavet Field, we will be having our 7th Annual 5k! We are so excited to fundraise for our organization and its efforts for the children in Shands and the community. This year our theme is Expedition Everest: Escape the Yeti. Dream Team at the University of Florida is a student run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to brightening the lives of the children in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Dream Team Volunteering provides countless long-term pediatric patients with one-on-one volunteers that are committed to forming lasting bonds and positive memories through fun games, activities, and companionship.
