Keys to Success Program with UF Health

Job Opportunity for Pre Med Students with Larissa Camejo, MDPA -- Paid & LOR-Focused

My name is Larissa Camejo and I am a practicing ophthalmologist at Larissa Camejo MDPA, a reputable Ophthalmology private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I am reaching out to propose an exciting job opportunity for premed students at the University of Florida.

At Larissa Camejo, MDPA, we specialize in providing comprehensive care to patients with eye diseases and specialize in Cataract, Glaucoma and Dry eye management and surgery. We are eager to offer premed students the chance to work with us and gain valuable experience in the field of Ophthalmology. Our program aims to create a mutually beneficial arrangement where students can learn about the workup of patients, utilize high technology medical equipment and tests for clinical care, and immerse themselves in the world of Ophthalmology.

We envision a year-long commitment for premed students to work at our practice, during which they will have the opportunity to:
    • Observe and assist in various aspects of Ophthalmology, including patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment plans.
    • Acquire hands-on experience in obtaining medical histories, using medical equipment and performing tests to aid in patient care.
    • Interact with patients, gaining valuable communication and patient care skills.
    • Learn from experienced Ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals in a supportive and educational environment.
    • Enhance their understanding of eye diseases, their diagnoses, and the latest advancements in ophthalmology.

In return for their contributions, the premed students will be compensated for their work at Larissa Camejo, MDPA. Additionally, we understand the importance of letters of recommendation for medical school applications. Hence, we are committed to providing strong and meaningful letters of recommendation to exceptional students who demonstrate dedication and excellence in their roles at our practice.

We firmly believe that this opportunity will significantly benefit the premed students' academic and professional pursuits. Not only will they gain valuable clinical experience, but they will also gain insight into the day-to-day life of an Ophthalmologist and the challenges and rewards of this medical specialty.

We kindly request your assistance in sharing this opportunity with your premed students and offering guidance on how we can further promote and facilitate this program. We are open to any suggestions or modifications that align with the University of Florida's guidelines and best practices.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or require additional information.

The survey should take about 10 minutes.

Responses from all students are acceptable, including those who are not pursuing work in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Public Health.

This study is based out of UNC Chapel Hill and has been approved by the UNC IRB #22-2438. This study is not designed to be treatment or provide any direct benefit to the participant. Eligible participants include current students pursuing both an MD and PhD, although these need not be at the same institution.
