Hi! My name is Joshua Diedrich and I’m Chief of Membership for an organization named Solace. This is an exciting time because we are beginning applications for the summer semester!
We’re a volunteer organization based at Shands Hospital, focused on the care and treatment of geriatric patients. We’re looking for driven, bright student volunteers willing to make an impact on patients lives through connection and compassion.Solace has a special place in my heart as we primarily focus on giving back to the underserved elderly population by volunteering with patients at Shands. Our members are dedicated and passionate about helping spread joy to the elderly community and work closely with the Admissions Discharge Transition Unit (ADTU). This past spring we’ve also had the pleasure of working at Al’z Place, a center for Alzheimer’s patients, and the 6th and 7th floor of Shand’s. This summer will only be our 6th semester as an organization at UF and we are already growing and expanding and would love for others to be a part of this journey.Our applications open from March 10-24, closing at 11:59pm. We have an information session over Zoom for all new members on March 21st, which will be posted to our website as well. We’ll then have interviews from March 29-31 in the Reitz Union.
