Balance 180 Summer Camp provides a great learning experience for student volunteers. All of our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with the participating campers in various activities, including gymnastics time, crafts, and games. The athletes have a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. The camp will be offered from July 10th to July 28th and will be held Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers can select the days and hours that they can join us, so that it works for their schedule.
During our Adaptive Gymnastics Classes, we teach gymnasts with physical or intellectual disabilities foundational skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor in a step-by-step, individualized process. Our volunteers work one-on-one with the athletes and help each athlete work at their own pace. Volunteers focus on helping the athletes improve motor skills and encourage them to follow instructions and make new friends. No gymnastics experience is required to be a great volunteer. The Adaptive Gymnastics classes will be held on most Saturdays from 1:00-2:00 pm.
