2023 Southeastern Medical Scientist Symposium Registration & Abstract Submission Open Now! Hosted by Emory University's School of Medicine

My name is Rincon Jagarlamudi and I am the Pre-Doctoral Liasion for the American Physician Scientist Association. The American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) is a national organization dedicated to addressing the needs of future physician-scientists with respect to their training and career development.

Presently, APSA hosts six regional meetings across the United States throughout the year and one annual meeting, hosted jointly between AAP/ASCI/APSA. The regional and annual meetings are a valuable space for APSA to increase undergraduate representation in the physician-scientist career track. Attending these offers pre-doctoral students a valuable opportunity to interact with numerous physician-scientists and physician-scientist trainees who are all in different stages of their research and clinical journeys. This is a fantastic opportunity for any pre-medical students who presently do scientific research or are interested in research.

Emory University School of Medicine will be hosting the 14th annual Southeastern Medical Scientist Symposium (SEMSS) November 18-19, 2023, at the School of Medicine and Woodruff Health Sciences Center Administration Building. SEMSS is a great opportunity for students to present their work, and for undergraduates to learn about MD/PhD programs, for medical students to learn about Physician Scientist Training Programs, and for everyone to network with colleagues interested in scientific research.  Emory hosts SEMSS every 3 years in conjunction with Vanderbilt University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, consistently attracting 150+ attendees from up to 40 schools around the country.  Registration is very affordable and some travel awards are available for presenters.

Registration and abstract submission submissions are open on our website southeasternmdphd.org.

Questions can be directed to southeasternmdphd@gmail.comWe look forward to seeing everyone this fall!
