A new UF student organization called University Rebuilding
Together. We are dedicated to helping Rebuilding Together North Central Florida
(https://www.rebuildingtogetherncf.org/)
by fundraising and recruiting volunteers to help repair and rebuild homes
across Alachua County for people living with disabilities or low SES. We also
hope to empower our students by teaching them home repair and maintenance
skills and by educating them on the housing crisis and homelessness in
Gainesville. We are not currently hosting volunteer events temporarily, as we
are a safety organization and many of our clients are immune deficient or
otherwise at a high risk for a severe reaction to contracting COVID-19.
However, we are still hosting virtual GBMs in which students speak with guest
speakers about the importance of safe, affordable housing, and we are hosting
virtual fundraisers for RTNCF.
We have our next general body meeting (link below) on Tuesday,
November 17, at 6:30PM via Zoom. Afterwards, we will also be hosting our
Virtual Cooking Class Fundraiser in which we will teach members to cook Puerto
Rican tostones!
