Casa de Esperanza

I am with Casa de Esperanza, a non-profit in Houston, Texas.  Casa de Esperanza provides residential care to children birth through six years old who are in crisis due to abuse, neglect, or the effects of HIV.  Care is provided in our residential neighborhood by our Hands of Hope House Parents.  Our House Parents, most of whom are recent college graduates, join us for a year of service- a twelve-month full-time post-graduation service year.  Applicants wishing to complete shorter service are considered on a case by case basis.  We provide on-site housing (House Parents live with the children they are caring for) and House Parents join us from all over the United States to be part of our internship program.

Information about our internship may be found here:

https://www.casahope.org/hands-of-hope-service-year-1

The application for our internship may be found here:

https://www.casahope.org/application-part-one

We are currently accepting applications for our winter, spring, and summer 2021 start dates and applicants may indicate their desired start date on their application.  We accept and process applications on a rolling basis.

I am writing with the hope that you may be able to share information about this opportunity with students who may be interested in pursuing a service year with our agency after graduation.  Our program especially appeals to students who wish to complete a gap year before entering medical or graduate school.  I am also attaching our flyer which I hope that you may be able to share as well.

House Parents in our program gain valuable experience that is relevant to a number of fields and future career goals while simultaneously making a meaningful difference in the lives of a vulnerable group of children.

Thank you and please let me know if you should need more information.
