Call for Mentees: APSA Undergraduate Mentorship Program 2024-2025

Greetings!

I am Angel Garces, one of the Mentorship Committee Vice-Chairs for the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources for aspiring physician-scientist trainees. Physician-scientists are important to the future of medical advancement and working to improve the way medicine is practiced in all different fields, and APSA is a great resource for students interested in academic medicine and applying to MD/DO, MD/PhD, or DO/PhD programs.

One of APSA’s goals is to provide opportunities for physician-scientist trainees to develop skills needed for future careers in academic medicine and industry, including trainee mentorship. To accomplish this goal and to provide insight to prospective graduate and professional school applicants, we offer an Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Mentorship program. The goal of this program is to connect APSA students (MD, DO, MD/PhD, and DO/PhD) with undergraduates and post-baccalaureates who are interested in careers as physician-scientists in one-on-one mentor-mentee relationships.

The application is found here and is due September 15th.

Aside from our mentorship program, undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students can become associate members of APSA to have access and up to date information about all of these opportunities. We also can help students start local chapters if interested in developing more resources on a local level. Pre-medical students can also find out more relevant information through the Pre-Medical Resources webpage here!

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Ángel Adrián Garcés

On behalf of the APSA Mentorship Committee
