The UNC-Chapel Hill chapter of the American Mock World Health Organization is proud to be hosting the 2021 AMWHO at UNC International Conference with the theme of Refugee & Migrant Health: Promoting Access, Quality, & Reform.  On behalf of our organization, we invite your students to join us during the weekend of April 17th – 18th, 2021 for our virtual conference.

We would appreciate it if you could publicize this opportunity to your UF students so that our conference can represent students from across the region. We have included a description and a flier below that you may use to provide more information about our conference.

AMWHO is an authentic simulation of the World Health Assembly, the sole decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO). At the AMWHO at UNC International Conference, approximately 100 graduate and undergraduate participants will assume the roles of WHO ambassadors, non-governmental organization members, pharmaceutical companies, or media correspondents.

Participants will engage in debates and discussion surrounding our theme for this year: Refugee & Migrant Health: Promoting Access, Quality, & Reform. Similar to the World Health Assembly, students will collaborate in their regional groups (ex. Southeast Asia/Western Pacific Region, Europe, etc.), analyzing the political, economic, social, and public health factors affecting refugee & migrant health. After drafting regional resolutions about innovative policies and partnerships to improve refugee & migrant health, delegates from all regions collectively assemble to actively debate and revise each region’s drafts, progressing all regions towards a polished final resolution to send to the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Throughout the weekend, students will have access to renowned professors from the Gillings School of Global Public Health and public health professions from the Research Triangle. Students will have the opportunity to actively engage with these guest speakers at the banquet, opening and closing ceremonies, and coffee chat events.

Regular registration for the premium conference registration bundle ends on March 20th, 2021.

Regular registration for the standard conference registration bundle ends on April 16th, 2021.
