Ochsner Health OPTIMUS Event: Pre-Med Career Conference

Ochsner Health will host its bi-annual OPTIMUS Pre-Med Career Day on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 1:30am to 3:30pm.

 

OPTIMUS (Ochsner’s Program To Introduce Medicine to Underrepresented Students) is a pipeline program to increase diversity in medicine and to help eliminate health disparities in minority communities.

The program involves using mentors at Ochsner from underrepresented backgrounds to provide education on career options, interviewing, and tips on preparing for careers in medicine.   Students will be able to:

• Identify ways to become an excellent candidate for medical school.
• Learn about pathways to medicine from current residents and practicing physicians.
• Develop techniques for successful medical school interview.
