The 2024 Barnes Lecture: A Conversation with Michael VanRooyen MD, MPH You are invited to a conversation with Dean Ashish K. Jha and Michael VanRooyen about Dr. VanRooyen’s experiences leading complex humanitarian operations with relief organizations in more than 30 countries affected by conflict and disaster, applying those experiences to a discussion of current health crises across the globe.  Tuesday, April 16 4 - 5 PM Providence Public Library 150 Empire Street, Providence, RI Register for Event About The Barnes Lectureship The lecture is supported by The Dr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Barnes, Jr. Lectureship in Public Health, endowed through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Zisson ’74, in memory of Norma and Miles Zisson ’38. Dr. Barnes was a beloved member of the faculty who had strong interests in humanism and medicine, and who developed several innovations in teaching at Brown, including the use of authors and actors to read and perform pieces on health-relevant themes.
