UF Habitat's first Spring GBM

Hello all!

To both our new and returning habitaters, welcome and thank you for your interest in the UF campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity! Your enthusiasm, support, and, most importantly, dedication to volunteering is what makes our organization so successful and enjoyable. I speak on behalf of our Executive Board, affiliate, and family partners when I say we are so very happy to have everyone back in town after what we hope was a warm and merry holiday season. We wish you all the best in the 2017 year and Spring semester, and we hope you’re ready to build with us!

UF Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the Gainesville area, making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. To accomplish these goals, we invite our friends, peers, and fellow classmates of all backgrounds, ethnicities, races, and religions to build houses together in partnership with local families in need. Through volunteer labor, we are able to assist in providing affordable housing in the local community.

I’d like to extend an invitation to you all to attend our very first General Body Meeting of this Spring semester on Tuesday January 17th, 1/17! Our meeting will be held at 7:20pm in Rinker 240. Find the event here, and feel free to post any comments or questions on the page!

Again, our very first GBM will be Tuesday January 17th, 1/17, at 7:20pm in Rinker 240!

We’ll be holding bi-weekly meetings where you come out and celebrate the hard work of Habitat by listening to speakers, participating in fun activities, building friendships, and, of course, signing up for builds! More information about upcoming opportunities and leadership opportunities within our organization will be announced and shared with you as they arise!

We already have so much going on that I'm so stoked to share with you guys. Attached to this email you'll find three separate fliers, all to exciting events:

-The first is for Collegiate Challenge- an alternative Spring Break opportunity, where you build houses and friendships for the week! Applications are open and and can be found here; they'll close January 31st, so make sure you move quick to ensure the likelihood of getting a spot on one of the trips! More information can be found on our website and will be further discussed at our GBM.

-The second flier is an invitation to our annual Food Truck Rally! Please join us as we celebrate and eat our way through High Dive, all donations to fund our chapter of Habitat! Make sure you bring cash and your appetite! Find the event on Facebook here to stay up to date!

-The last flier is to our first fundraising event this semester at Chipotle (ayyye burritos, heck yeah!). On February 1st, from 5-9pm, please visit Chipotle on University and either show them the attached flier (printed or on your phone) or say you're with UF Habitat for Humanity! A whopping, generous 50% of proceeds go to us. So please, please make sure to come, bring your friends, roommates, and family, and eat lots and lots of burritos, bowls, and tacos (or salads if you're like me)! Find the event on Facebook here to stay up to date!

I’m so, so, so excited to meet everyone and to get building with you guys! Feel free to get in touch with me or any of the other officers via email or Facebook message if you have any questions or comments.

See you at the GBM!
