Our names are Bella and Adrienne and we run an organization here at UF called Women Building Women. We mentor 60+ at risk girls in underserved middle schools here in Gainesville, and have had enormous success with our program.
As we formed these relationships with school administrators, we are constantly getting asked the question: do you know any groups that do similar things for male students? This fall, we are hoping to fill the dire need for male mentors in Westwood and/or Howard Bishop Middle School. Female mentors are encouraged to apply through our regular application cycle in September!
Our goal is to start with a small group of 15+ male mentors. They would be subject to a brief interview process before completing 1 hour of training initially and 4 throughout the semester. If you know of any male students that are interested, we strongly encourage them to reach out to us individually at womenbuildingwomengators@gmail.com.
