Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM)

EMPOWERING FUTURE PHYSICIANS

Greetings from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM)!

As the largest podiatric medical school in the country, with over 100 years of educating Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs), we are excited to share some valuable information and resources that can help guide your students as they explore their healthcare career options.

Access a digital brochure that includes a personal message from KSUCPM's Dean, Dr. Allan Boike, an overview of podiatric medicine, resources to help your students learn more about this specialty, and a glimpse of some of our favorite Cleveland attractions and events!

Access KSUCPM's Exclusive Advisor Brochure

Podiatric medicine is a unique and essential medical specialty that continues to grow in demand. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) address complex cases ranging from congenital deformities and diabetic complications to sports injuries and beyond. As vital members of healthcare teams, DPMs play a significant role in improving patients' quality of life, yet this specialty remains a hidden gem in the medical field.

While our office frequently hosts college visits and presentations, we want to emphasize the pivotal role you play in shaping your students' career paths. Early exposure to podiatric medicine—whether through conversations with advisors or shadowing experiences—can often be the spark that inspires students to pursue this rewarding field. Even if podiatric medicine isn’t initially on their radar, your guidance could open doors to a fulfilling and impactful career.

If you’re unfamiliar with podiatric medicine or would like to learn more, I would love to schedule a virtual Q&A session with you to discuss the field further. Our team is also eager to engage directly with your students through virtual or in-person presentations and advising sessions, helping them envision what a future in podiatric medicine and surgery could look like.

The 2024-2025 application cycle for the Class of 2029 is now open through AACPMAS, and we are excited to help your aspiring physicians explore the world of podiatric medicine.

Thank you for the important work you do in shaping the next generation of medical professionals. I look forward to collaborating with you to ensure that podiatric medicine is on your students’ radar as they pursue their medical careers.

Synapse — Service Organization Supporting Individuals with Brain Injuries

Good afternoon,

My name is Viviana Li and I am an undergraduate student in my third year at Johns Hopkins University. I am writing to spread the word about the opportunity to get involved in Synapse, a growing national organization that serves individuals with brain injury. Our mission is to provide a support network for these individuals and to educate and inspire the next generation of leaders in brain injury. Through Synapse, undergraduates collaborate with local physicians and partners with the goal of providing social support opportunities for individuals with brain injury. I personally attribute my desire to pursue medicine to my participation in Synapse and the meaningful, rewarding experiences I have had as a member of my school’s chapter.

Synapse currently has 25 chapters across the country from MIT to UCLA. Much to our excitement, we are expanding and accepting applications for new undergraduate chapters at other universities now through October 20th, 2024. We are hosting an Informational Webinar on September 22, 2023 at 6PM EST / 3PM PST where we will share more information about Synapse and the application process and answer any questions. RSVP for Webinar Here.

The application can be found here.

I have attached our flier below, which contains additional details about our organization and the application process. Thank you for your help - please let me know if you have any questions or if there is any additional information I can provide!

Kindly,

Viviana Li
