Hello all!
To both our new and returning Habitaters, welcome and thank you
for your interest in the UF campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity! Your
enthusiasm, support, and, most importantly, dedication to volunteering is what
makes our organization so successful and enjoyable. We’re so very happy to have
everyone back in town! Hopefully you’ve all had a smooth transition into Fall
semester and are ready to build with us!
A quick background for those who may not know or for those who may
have forgotten: UF Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing
and homelessness in the Gainesville area, making decent shelter a matter of
conscience action. To accomplish these goals, we invite our friends, peers, and
fellow classmates of all backgrounds, races, and religions to build houses
together in partnership with families in need. Through volunteer labor, we
are able to assist in providing affordable housing in the local community.
I’d like to extend an invitation to you all to attend our very
first General Body Meeting of this Fall semester on August 30th,
8/30! Our meeting will be held at 7:20pm in Rinker 240. Find the event here, and feel
free to post any comments or questions on the page!
Again, our very first GBM will be August 30th, 8/30,
at 7:20pm in Rinker 240!
In the Fall and Spring semesters we hold bi-weekly meetings
where you come out and celebrate the hard work of Habitat by listening to
speakers, participating in fun activities, making friends, and, of course,
signing up for builds! We will be having various other volunteer opportunities
in addition to our builds, as well as leadership opportunities within our
organization. More information will be announced and shared with you all as
they arise!
I’m so, so, so excited to meet everyone and to get building with
you guys! Feel free to get in touch with me or any of the other officers via
email or Facebook message if you have any questions or comments.
See you at the GBM!
