Health Student Association is hosting a panel on misinformation in the
current media with a focused discussion on public health and science
communication. Please see details below:
WHAT: Panel discussion exploring the
interdisciplinary perspectives on misinformation through the public health
lens; topics will include: COVID-19/anti-vaccination movement, public policy,
human behavioral psychology, scientific communication and advertising, and
modern media
WHEN: Tuesday, February 9th @ 6:00pm -

WHO: Panelists will include:
- Dr. Jade Williams, Ph.D., Lecturer, Director of Dial Center for
Written and Oral Communication Ambassador Leadership Program at UF
- Amanda Bradshaw, Doctoral candidate in the UF College of Journalism and
Communications, specializing in science health communication and vaccine
misinformation
- Dr. Rania Gollakner, DVM, MPH, Veterinary Medical Officer at USDA Animal and
Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
- Crystal Slanzi, Doctoral candidate in the UF College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences Department of Psychology, Board Certified Behavior
Analyst
- Thomas Field, Media Manager in the UF One Health Center of
Excellence, specializing in media outreach and communications studies
- Mark Schlakman, J.D., Lecturer, Senior Program Director of the
Center for the Advancement of Human Rights at FSU College of Law,
Recipient of the Department of State’s Superior Honor Award
