The goal of this (now virtual) four-week summer enrichment program is
to prepare first and second year underrepresented, minority
college students for a career in the health professions by enhancing
their academic proficiency and providing career development opportunities. With
12 program sites at different universities across the nation that
specialize in various tracks including dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry,
pharmacy, physical therapy, and public health, the program offers
innumerable resources and builds a strong sense of community for pre-health
students.
I’ve attached an informational flyer from the National Program
Office to this email, which is designed to be shared with prospective
applications. More information about the program and application process can be
found through the NPO website (run by the AAMC) here as well: https://www.shpep.org/.
The application is due Feb 5, 2021, so we are
encouraging students to apply ASAP. If any of your students are interested in
learning more about my experience applying and participating in the program, I
would be more than happy to answer their questions directly through my email
at isabelle.gain@ufl.edu.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you
soon!
Sincerely,
Isabelle Gain
