On Sunday, October 14 the Equal Access Clinic- UF College
of Medicine’s entirely student-run, free clinic for Alachua County’s
underserved community- will be hosting our annual fundraiser- Mini Medical
School- at Harrell Medical Education Building on UF’s campus! Mini Medical School
is an event created to help premedical students explore a day in the life of a
medical student. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards EACN's
annual budget, which provides laboratory tests, prescriptions, and medical
supplies necessary for treating the underserved patient population of
Gainesville and Alachua County. For more information about the Equal Access

Mini-Medical School Tentative Schedule of Events:
Students will begin the morning with two
lectures from UF College of Medicine faculty in the South Learning Studio.
Following lectures, students will listen to a presentation on medical school
admissions by the UF Pre-Health Advising office as well as a short info session
about the UF College of Medicine from a member of the UFCOM Admissions
Interviewing Committee.
Lunch will be provided for attendees, and during lunch attendees will get a chance to ask questions about medical school in a Q&A panel featuring current UF medical students.
Following lunch, students will split into small groups and participate in breakout sessions led by attendings, 4th and 3rd year UF medical students. All medical equipment needed, including stethoscopes, will be provided for use the day of. The tentative list of breakout sessions is as follows:
- Introduction to Pediatric Exams
- Simulation Lab with Dr. Gessner
- Proper Vital Sign Technique
- Physical Examination Skills
- Introduction to Sports Medicine
- Women's Health and Childbirth
- Medical Honors Program Info Session (formerly known as the Junior Honors Medical Program)
- College of Medicine Tour / Student Life Q&A
- The Patient Interview and History
