Undergraduate
Research Volunteer
We are currently
seeking an undergraduate volunteer for a physiology research lab in the College
of Medicine. Candidates must be current undergraduates who intend to commit at
least a year. Research for credit is encouraged. “Gap Year” full-time
employment is also a possibility in 2018. Preference will be given to a rising
senior (graduating 2018) who intends to take a “gap year” following graduation.
Candidates
interested in pursuing a PhD are encouraged to apply.
This
position covers:
1.
Handling of mice including:
a.
Breeding
b.
Keeping detailed records of mouse colony activity on a daily basis
c.
Tail snipping, ear-tagging, and genotyping
d.
Collecting biological specimens from mice
2.
Conducting various spectrophotometric assays
3.
Harvesting tissue from mice
4.
Gel electrophoresis and Western blotting
5.
Recording experimental data and preparing reports from the data
6.
Extracting RNA and protein from cultured cells and
animal tissues

Previous lab
