My name is Marcie Mai, I am the Recruitment and Student Life Manager in the Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs (ORMA) at Harvard Medical School. Our office aims to recruit students who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM), first-generation college students, LGBTQ+ students, and those from low-income backgrounds. One way we support this mission is by hosting webinars for pre-med students to help them navigate the medical school application process. November 7, 2024: Medical School Application Process
Learn more about medical school applications, deadlines, and application assistance aid programs. This webinar will provide an overview of applying to medical school and how to prepare for a successful application process. We will provide a suggested timeline based on the intended academic start date. This webinar will be an interactive presentation to help you get started on your medical school journey!
November 21, 2024: Personal Statements
Hear from our current students about their personal statement writing process. Learn about the components that make a personal statement and common questions asked. Personal statements allow the admissions committee to learn more about you, hear your story, and understand the experiences that have shaped your journey toward a career in medicine.
February 1, 2025: Interviewing Best Practices
Learn about the different types of interviewing processes during medical school applications and how to best prepare for them. We will have a panel of HMS medical students sharing their interviewing experiences during their medical school journey. Join us to learn how to put your best foot forward during your medical school interview.
March 20, 2025: Why Medicine?
Join our Harvard Medical School alumni and current students as they share why they chose to become doctors and pursue medical school. You will hear from current students in different stages of their educational journey, as well as alumni reflecting on their time at HMS and sharing what life has been like after graduation.
