My name is Kaitlyn Crespo and I work with Dr. Sharona Ross in planning the Women in Surgery Career Symposium. This year, made possible by generous philanthropists, we are able to offer a full sponsorship to undergraduate, medical students, residents, and fellows to women who are pursuing or interested in pursuing a career in medicine.
The annual WIS Career Symposium serves to highlight career options for young women and change the misconceptions associated with women in Surgery. The event is designed to encourage women STEM students and undergraduate students who may be interested in becoming physicians, as well as premed and medical students to choose a career in Surgery. It is also designed as a forum to discuss the issues and challenges confronting women surgeons as they seek to advance in a changing but still male-dominated field and to share successes and advice for breaking the glass ceiling in Surgery.
I wanted to personally extend this information to the University of Florida with priority so your student will be able to receive the sponsorships.
I attached our Save the Date for the event and the link to apply for the sponsorship: https://forms.gle/gkA9wnMJGLP4M3jP6
Please let me know if you would like additional information, and if you will be able to distribute this message to your students!
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn Crespo, BS
