The University of Florida Health Sciences (UFHSC) is
enthusiastic to announce that we have a great opportunity for Pre Health
students who are Underrepresented and/or Disadvantaged and interested in
the Health Professions. UF is selected to be a site for the Summer Health
Professions Education Program (SHPEP), formerly known as the Summer Medical and
Dental Education Program (SMDEP).
The UF Campus will host 80 students who are currently either
freshmen or sophomores. Applicants will be asked to designate the health
profession of their choice. If one of the four programs chosen at UF do
not include your program of interest, don’t worry. Select one closest to
the one you’re interested in. You will learn a lot, and participants will
be exposed to all 12 professions within UF’s Health Science
Colleges.
This opportunity is a free residential program
lasting six weeks and will span from May 22 – June 30, 2017.
This program is intended to augment academic preparation and career
development of participants in order that they may be more competitive for
professional schools.
Housing, a stipend, and travel will be provided to all
students.
The application process is currently open for this
competitive opportunity. Applications are received through the national
SHPEP website, and the deadline is March 1.
