I am writing to tell you about a
very exciting program that will be in its sixth year this summer: the FIU
Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Doctors of Tomorrow (DOT) Program.
This program is a one-week
(Sunday, May 21, 2017 - Friday, May 26, 2017) residential program for
premedical students who have completed their sophomore year (at least 60
credits) and are Florida Residents as well as US Citizens or US
Permanent Residents. Students should also have completed two semesters of
Biology and two semesters of Chemistry.
Students will stay in University
housing on the Modesto A. Maidique (SW 8th Street) Campus of
FIU. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. There is no cost to
students for this program; all costs for food, housing, materials, etc. are
paid for by the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

To qualify for the program,
students must be Florida Residents (US Citizens or Permanent Residents) first
generation in college or from a group underrepresented in medicine or
from a family with a low socioeconomic
status.
The application deadline for all
materials is March 1, 2017.
If you are interested in the program, you must:
· complete the application, including a
personal statement explaining your interests and goals · have official transcript(s) sent. (If you are an FIU student, you may send an unofficial transcript.)
· have 2 letters of recommendation sent (preferably from a premedical advisor and/or science faculty members)
