We are excited to announce that each VCOM Campus will be hosting a Virtual Open House this fall!   Each registrant will receive the schedule for the day and a link to our Zoom sessions. Participants can choose to attend every session, or pick the ones they are most interested in.   Open House is a great opportunity for you and your guests to explore all that VCOM has to offer! We will showcase tours and demonstrations from our Anatomy Lab, Simulation & Technology Center, and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine faculty. We will also host a Student Panel to answer all your questions, and we will share information about our International Missions Program.   If you are able, we would love for you to share this invite with your peers and friends!   If you have any questions please email us at admissions@vcom.edu! 7th Annual One Health Symposium at UC Davis: Calling for Student Panelists

My name is Felicia Yen and I am a fellow for UC Davis Global Affairs' Global Education for All at UC Davis. I am part of the team coordinating a "Student Led Research Panel" at the 7th Annual One Health Symposium: A One Health Approach to Global Food Systems.

 

We are looking for students from all disciplines who are actively doing research pertaining to the theme of Global Food Systems to present their research at the symposium. All details can be found in the attached PDF. The deadline for abstracts is September 21, 2020.

APSA Undergraduate Mentorship Program - Apply Today!

Dear Office of Pre-health Advising, My name is Linzheng (Ling) Shi, and I am the Mentorship Committee Chair of the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources for aspiring physician-scientist trainees. Physician-scientists are important to the future of medical advancement and working to improve the way medicine is practiced in all different fields, and APSA is a great resource for students interested in academic medicine and applying to MD/DO, MD/PhD, or DO/PhD programs. One of APSA’s goals is to provide opportunities for physician-scientist trainees to develop skills needed for future careers in academic medicine and industry, including trainee mentorship. To accomplish this goal and to provide insight to prospective graduate and professional school applicants, we are starting the seventh year of our Undergraduate Mentorship program. The goal of this program is to connect APSA students (MD, DO, MD/PhD, and DO/PhD) with undergraduates who are interested in careers as physician-scientists in one-on-one mentor-mentee relationships.  We would appreciate it if you could forward this message to any undergraduate student who is interested in medicine! LM2020 Trainee Scholarships     October 22-25, 2020 Virtual Conference   The American College of Lifestyle Medicine has offered unprecedented scholarships for Trainees to attend this year’s conference. They have generously awarded 250 scholarships, with an astounding 210 scholarships going to Trainees who have never attended an ACLM conference before. With a variety of Trainees attending LM2020, from bachelor and international students, to medical students and residents, Lifestyle Medicine is sure to reach the ears of the next generation of health care professionals.   Trainees can still register to attend LM2020 at a discounted rate by filling out this form to submit enrollment or employment verification.   ACLM Trainee Member Registration: $49 Non-Member Registration: $99   Membership BONUS: Join the growing community of Lifestyle Medicine Trainees by becoming an active ACLM Member before October 15th and we will waive the $25 new member registration fee! Trainees on Social     This post highlighted the Orientation Day event held by Loma Linda University Health for incoming Family and Preventive Medicine residents. The photos showcase the incoming residents spending time together, their delicious WFPB lunch, and an example of an exercise prescription. Mental Health Support Club

Mental Health Support for Pre-Health Students (a.k.a. the MHS Club) is a new organization that seeks to provide an open space for dialogue about mental health, including how it pertains to healthcare professions and professional school students.  We also serve as a support group for any students who may feel isolated or misunderstood due to their mental struggles.  All of our meetings and events will be held via Zoom this semester.  Our first GBM is on September 9 at 5:00 PM EST.  Please join our Facebook group to learn more!
