Balance 180 Summer Volunteer Opportunity!

Hello,

I am with Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy, a local non-profit organization that focuses on integrating children with and without special needs through sports. This summer, we are looking for highly motivated volunteers to work with our athletes. We have two programs available; our three-week inclusive summer camp and our adaptive gymnastics program.

Summer camp is a great learning experience for student volunteers. All of our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with the participating campers in various activities, including gymnastics time, crafts, and games. The athletes have a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. The camp will be offered from July 11th to July 29th and will be held Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers do not need to commit to all dates. However, we ask that volunteers sign up in advance for the days they are available.

In adaptive gymnastics classes, we teach gymnasts with physical or intellectual disabilities foundational skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor in a step-by-step, individualized process. Our volunteers work one-on-one with the athletes and help each athlete work at their own pace. Volunteers focus on helping the athletes improve motor skills and encourage them to follow instructions and make new friends. The Adaptive Gymnastics classes will be held on most Saturdays from 12:30-2:00 pm.
