The numbers of
underrepresented minorities in medical schools are alarming. Current trends
in racial and ethnic health care disparities are widely documented and a
major focus of many recent policy changes. One frequently discussed
solution is the need to increase the number of minority providers.
Tour for Diversity
in Medicine (T4D) seeks to address this concern by
using the experiences and advising of current minority physicians,
dentists, pharmacists, and medical students to help high school and
undergraduate students along the educational pipeline to health professions
school. Founded by former medical student leaders, T4D is a grassroots
effort to educate, inspire, and cultivate future minority physicians and
dentists.
In September, AACOM is teaming up with T4D to bring to
you our Diversity in
Osteopathic Medicine: Virtual Event.
On September 12, 2020 from 12-6pm ET, we invite you to join
us for workshops with physicians and current medical students on
topics such as critical test taking strategies, the importance of
mentorship, interview skills, and more!
While the emphasis of this event is to support individuals
from diverse and underserved communities we encourage all high school,
college students, parents, and pre-health advisors interested in learning
more about osteopathic medicine to participate.
