Undergraduate Research Expo

"CURBS, in collaboration with UF's Student Government, is pleased to announce that the 2018 Fall Research Expo will be held on Monday September 24, 2018 from 5-7 pm in the Rion Ballroom. The Undergraduate Research Expo is an annual exposition of research conducted by faculty members and graduate students at the University of Florida. The purpose of this event is to introduce undergraduates to research faculty in a meet and greet-style setting. We hope to introduce students to the diversity of research conducted at UF, allow students to network with research faculty members, and present recruitment opportunities for undergraduate researchers.
Last year, over 120 faculty members from different research disciplines spoke to more than 400 attendees. Faculty and graduate researchers will speak about their work and answer questions about research opportunities in their field.
We hope that students will take interest in the diversity of research conducted here at UF and be inspired to pursue their own investigation of thoughtful research questions. Student can preregister at: https://goo.gl/forms/RAEIBk6zSf6eUQL42
For any questions, please contact Stephanie Ciricillo (sciricillo97@ufl.edu) or Katherine Ngo (kngo1998@ufl.edu) with the subject line "Fall Expo." "

NYU Emergency Department Research Associate Internship - Fall 2018 - Spring 2019

Dear Pre-Health/Pre-Med Advisor,
I am writing to you to inform you of the Research Associate Internship opportunity we have available at NYU Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine for Fall 2018 – Spring 2019. I’ve included a description of our program and the application process below. We are excited to offer this opportunity to all interested pre-health, pre-med and post-baccalaureate students and encourage them to apply. Please note we are actively recruiting for Bi-Lingual English/Spanish-speaking interns in addition to non-Spanish speaking interns.
Please access the Research Associate Internship Application at this web address: https://med.nyu.edu/emergency/research/research-associate-internship. Please disregard the March 31 deadline. All interested students are welcome to send their CVs to EMResearchAssociates@nyumc.org to be considered for the internship starting September 1, 2018.
Please forward the following information about the Research Associate Internship program at NYU to any students that may be interested in gaining experience in clinical research. Thank you for your time, we look forward to working with you!
About the program:
The Research Associate (RA) Internship is an innovative volunteer program for enthusiastic and inspired college and post-baccalaureate students. Created by the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, the internship grants students an opportunity to experience and observe multiple aspects of clinical research. The program consists of clinical and non-clinical research shifts based in the Emergency Department. The program offers the committed student a unique experience to furnish a wealth of knowledge about the numerous options for a career in healthcare. This school-year long or summer intensive unpaid research internship will expose participants to a diverse spectrum of clinical research investigations occurring in the Emergency Departments of Bellevue Hospital Center, NYU Langone Medical Center, and NYU Lutheran.
RA interns will develop basic research skills and become an integral part of research projects and grants occurring through the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine. They will be taught how to collect and enter data, and maintain databases. RA interns will participate in laboratory meetings and gain Principal Investigator mentorship and/or shadowing experiences. RA interns will also become oriented to the Institutional Review Board and other Human Subjects courses. This experience permits RA interns to be exposed to new and innovative research, and develop a comprehensive understanding of clinical research.
Commitment:
The RA Internship is a demanding program and requires a great deal of commitment on the part of the student. Fall-Spring RA interns can expect to work at least two, four-hour clinical shifts and one, two-hour non-clinical shift per week for a total of 10 hours per week during the length of the school year. RA interns are also expected to attend study meetings when new research studies are starting in the ED.
Shifts take place each day of the week, including weekends, in four-hour time blocks. The first shift is 8am-12pm, and the last is 8pm-12am.
For questions or concerns, students may visit our website for more details or contact Michelle Shum at EMResearchAssociates@nyumc.org

Michelle
