The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is hosting this year's Southeastern Medical Student Symposium (SEMSS) 2025, and we are now accepting abstract submissions for student research presentations (and travel awards).
SEMSS is a regional conference (planned by MD/PhD students) that brings together undergraduate and medical students to present research, engage with physician-scientists, and learn more about careers in medicine and research. It’s a fantastic platform for students to gain experience in academic presentation, receive feedback, and connect with mentors in the field.
This year's conference will be held on UAB's campus on September 27-28, and undergraduates are encouraged to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. It's a great resume-builder and a valuable way for students to showcase their work and passion for medicine and/or research.
More information, including abstract submission guidelines and deadlines, can be found here.
