Job Position:  Medical Assistant, start date Immediately
Job Description:
Join a state-of-the art, upscale medical and cosmetic dermatology practice in the heart of east Fort Lauderdale, Florida, looking to hire a Medical Assistant to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a dermatology practice or a pre-health/pre-med student demonstrating excellent patient interactions and quick learning skills.
We are looking for someone professional, reliable, compassionate and friendly to work alongside our board-certified dermatologist and provide our patients with the best care in South Florida.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Preparing patients to be seen and working directly with physician to assist as needed with all medical and cosmetic procedures during the examination
  • Transcription of EMR notes during patient exam
  • Collecting, recording and preparing laboratory specimens to be sent out
  • Basic wound care, suture removal and dressing changes
  • Surgical assistance during dermatologic surgeries and procedures
  • Organizing/stocking exam rooms and ordering supplies as needed
  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed and completing prior authorizations if required
  • Sterilization of medical and surgical instruments
  • Turnover and set-up of examination rooms in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by the practice
  • Providing patients with post procedure care and treatment plan instructions
  • Photographing and recording patient images into EMR
  • Properly greeting each patient with a professional and pleasant attitude
  • Effectively communicate with patients when they make inquiries, whether by phone or in person at the office.
  • Working in a team effort to promote cosmetic procedures and products sold
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Nursing program, or a pre-health student during a gap year
  • Previous experience in a dermatology practice recommended
  • Pleasant personality, respect, and patience are required
  • Dedicated, enthusiastic and organized work ethic
  • Ability to maintain proper, courteous, and professional telephone and in person etiquette
  • Organized, self-motivated, and attentive to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and accurately prioritize problems & initiatives
  • Proficient with using iPads and in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Google, etc.)
  • Ability to take patient vital signs
  • Phlebotomy not required, but recommended
  • Experience with Modernizing Medicine (EMA) software recommended
  • Attendance and punctuality required

Open Volunteer Position: Research Assistant with The Women's Group of North Florida

Volunteer Position: Research Assistant The Women’s Group of North Florida research assistant volunteer position offers the opportunity to learn the basics of in-office research. The incumbent will be trained and guided to perform their job with excellence and will have the experience of a practice environment where the focus is health for all.

The ideal research assistant for the Women’s Group of North Florida will be an individual who cares about social justice issues, are non-judgmental in their attitude and conduct, and are interested in the availability of high-quality patient care for all.

Among other projects, we are currently collecting data for the study “Establishing the Reliability and Validity of the Screen for Substances, Opioids, Cannabis, and Alcohol (SOCA)” This study aims to validate a rapid substance use screen developed by our faculty in 2019. This project will take most of the time this year.

Responsibilities:
· Maintain quality standards to preserve the integrity of sensitive patient information, research data and findings.
· Consent participants and collect data. This includes conducting in-office interviews, and administering substance use screens.
· Document and maintain accurate records.
· Assist research supervisor with research activities, including updating in-office documents, IRB requirements and the report of findings.
· Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
· Complete Human Subjects Research training
· Excellent administrative and time management skills
· Ability to work under the direct supervision of the research supervisor and other clinical staff.
· Ability to effectively communicate, interact respectfully, understand, and empathize with others.
· Ability to respect the clients’ integrity beyond your own prejudices.

Time Commitment:
· As a research assistant, we ask that you work a minimum of 2, four-hour shifts a week with a minimum time commitment of two months.
· The shifts will be either 8am-12pm or 1pm-5pm, Monday through Friday.
