Sewathon

Sewathon this Saturday 6/19/21 -
Sign Up Now!

There are still spots to fill for this Saturday's Sewathon.  Remember you need to sign up for a shift (or two) in advance so we can limit participation to 16 guests at a time to maintain good social distancing.  This event will be held at the Sewing Center at 1001 NE 16 Avenue, Gainesville, FL  32609.

The shifts are 10 am - noon and 12:30-2:30.  No sewing experience is necessary as we teach you what you need to do for each task.  We have plenty of non-sewing jobs.  We plan to put together pods and kits for local distribution programs.  We may also make some international kits.

We will get a full newsletter out very soon but just wanted to make sure to get everyone signed up for Saturday's Sewathon!

Note:  This link for signing up has sewathons, Monday sewing times, and free sewing classes on the Google Sheet.  Make sure you are on the April, May, June tab of 2021 to see what is available on each date.  July/August/September is a work in progress for now.  There will NOT be any Saturday sewathons in July.  But July sewing classes and Monday evening dates ARE open so you can sign up for them.

Radha's Surgery
This Wednesday, I (Radha Selvester) will be having surgery to remove an endometrioma.  If all goes well, I will go home on the same day.  If there are complications, I will be in the hospital for a couple of days.  The surgeon says it takes a week to recover and I am not to lift anything for a month.

Fortunately, we have a great leadership team that will keep everything going on.  I hope to be able to write a newsy newsletter and publish a more complete third quarter calendar in a couple of weeks.

Honor Thesis Study

Hello everyone!

My name is Kendall Robinson, and I am a student at the University of Florida. I am in the process of conducting research for my Honors Thesis.

My research mentor, Dr. Andrea Guastello, and I are conducting research on the impacts of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in undergraduate students in Florida. This study has been approved by the University of Florida’s Institutional Review Board for human subjects research (#IRB202100638). Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and your responses will remain anonymous. It should only take about 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. If you would like to participate in this study, you can use the link below to access the questionnaire.

You will not receive any compensation for participating in this study; however, your participation will allow us to advance our understanding of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in undergraduate students.

If you have any questions, please contact our Principal Investigator for this study:

Andrea Guastello, PhD, Department of Psychiatry, University of Florida, aguastello@ufl.edu
