To whom this may concern,
my name is Labrina Johnson and I am a student at Florida Agricultural &
Mechanical University, majoring in Biology / Pre-Medicine. I
currently serve as one of the 2020-2021 Lenox Hill Hospital Neurosurgery:
BRAINterns (Brain + intern) Ambassadors and I am so excited to propose an
amazing pre-health opportunity that would be in the best interest of your
Pre-Med or Pre-Health students.
Due to these unprecedented
times where most schools, organizations, clinical research, and shadowing
opportunities are getting canceled or having to be moved to remote learning,
obtaining the required exposure has been tough for those trying to pursue a healthcare
career in the future. Thankfully, the popular Netflix docu-series ‘Lenox Hill’
Hospital, has offered their star physicians (specifically neurosurgeons) to
host LIVE online-based webinars for students interested in going into the
medical field through a program called ‘BRAINterns’ and what is even more
exciting about this program is that it is absolutely FREE!!
🧠 WHAT IS BRAINTERNS?
Over the summer, as a
participant in the program myself, I can attest that this is one of my most
valuable, unparalleled, and motivating pre-health experiences that I have
gained thus far. I have had the pleasure of sitting in several webinars
with the Lennox Hill leaders who are passionate about molding this
next generation of future health professionals and some of
this nation’s most renowned physicians like Dr. Langer, who currently serves as
the Chair in the Lenox Hill Hospital’s Neurosurgery Department, and, Dr.
Boockvar who currently serves as the Vice Chair in the Neurosurgery Department
and is the Director of the Brain Tumor and Pituitary/Neuroendocrine Center at
Lenox Hill Hospital, as well as, many other exceptional doctors, PAs, NPs,
nurses, staff, and even current medical students.
Although, this program is
more geared towards individuals who may be considering a career in medicine,
specifically those interested in neurology, it is still beneficial for many
other interests in healthcare. Each event will allow students the opportunity
to attend educational seminars conducted by real, certified health professionals
and medical students. There will be webinars that will cover the intricacies of
what it takes to be a competitive applicant inside and out. There will also be
seminars highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in medicine and
lastly, students will gain top-tier virtual exposure to real medical cases,
observe, and have to the chance to ask questions during real OR surgeries,
learn about clinical research, gain professional medical shadowing in an array
of specialties such as neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, network and much
more.
As ambassador, I am
looking for ways to reach out to current high schoolers, undergrads as well as,
upcoming, matriculating medical students and my first thought was YOU and your students. I am asking if
you would please be willing to forward this idea/email with your pre-med or
pre-health students as I want to give other students the same
opportunities that BRAINterns gave to me.
One
of the best things about this program is that there are no obligations--just
benefits!! I truly ask that you consider this program for your students as one
of thier pre-health experiences.
ARE YOU
